Infrastructure & Transport

Infrastructure design requires bespoke solutions rather than the application of standard designs.
Infrastructure

We approach infrastructure in the same way as any other design – by working to understand individual project requirements and constraints.

Each project is headed by a director who takes responsibility for the design, resourcing and maintaining project progress. All our senior staff recognise that our work is part of a team directed towards the optimum built project. In short, we have the in-house skills, knowledge and experience to rise to the challenge of demanding roads and infrastructure projects.

We develop strong working relationships with our clients, co-professionals and contractors. We are strong team members, sharing in the development of the principles that inform each project in its initial stages and providing timely information, analyses and details as the project progresses.

Utilities

In delivering infrastructure projects we use various software, including WaterCAD, for all pressurized water, irrigation and sewerage networks. In addition we use spreadsheets developed in-house to tackle the less complex networks and projects.

In brief, Ramboll has the in-house skills, knowledge and experience to rise to the challenge of a demanding infrastructure projects.

The utilities that we have recently designed are:

• Sewerage Network
• Storm Water Drainage
• Potable Water System
• Fire fighting Network
• Irrigation System
• Street Lighting
• Power (HV, LV, ELV) Network
• District Cooling System
• Telecom (Civil Works)

Roads

Ramboll has in-house capability to undertake geometric and pavement design for all type of road networks (including local roads, collector roads, arterials and expressways). We use the latest version of geometric design software, namely MX Road/ MX Renew, for undertaking road projects using international standards.

In brief we can undertake the following:

• Geometric design of new highway networks as well as strengthening and rehabilitation of existing road networks in all types of terrain.

• Geometric designs of sophisticated multi-level interchanges, roundabouts, grade separator, tunnel and viaducts.

• Grading/balancing of site earthworks (cut/fill).

We can also carry out pavement design in various road materials (e.g. Asphalt/ Concrete/Pavers) using International Standards.

In addition our designs are tested using the AutoTURN software to carry out a swept path analysis.

Transportation

Transport planning can be a key to unlock the value of a site. Our specialists have a clear understanding of the interplay between public policy and project needs. We work with planners, developers, architects and operators, as well as Ramboll ME’s multidisciplinary engineering teams, to develop and negotiate appropriate solutions.

Ramboll has expertise in carrying out Traffic Impact Studies and Traffic Circulations. Currently our specialists use VISSIM for traffic modelling and SIDRA for junction/interchange analysis on our projects.
