Gas storage

Securing a reliable gas supply is of prime concern to energy companies and consumers. Storage facilities – which for example could be placed underground in naturally occurring cavities such as salt caverns – play an important part in preventing both seasonal demand fluctuations in gas supply and unexpected supply disruptions. Furthermore, underground gas storage is of key importance to gas supply under normal operational circumstances, and in case of a gas supply emergency.

Ramboll provides comprehensive analyses of the gas storage market which can be used to offer clear recommendations on the need for storage and the balance between market oriented and administrative requirements of strategic storage.

Our expertise also includes assessment of the requirements for strategic storage of gas, as well as a business plan for development of gas storage facilities. In this way, our clients are able to significantly increase capacity at their facility while still maintaining a competitive price – based on Ramboll’s economic study on commercial gas storage.

Underground gas storage

Ramboll Oil & Gas has just been awarded the pre-engineering update (FEED Update) contract for the refurbishing of Gassco's Norsea Gas Terminal in Emden, Northern Germany. The major scope of work includes new receiving-, gas heating-, utilities- and process facilities. It is one of the largest projects undertaken by Ramboll within this specific area.
