Ramboll has experience of a wide range of facilities ranging from conventional power to renewable energy, including bioenergy, wind energy, waste-to-energy, solar energy, geothermal, hydro, tidal & wave.
New biomass power plant in Maabjerg, Denmark
Maabjerg BioEnergy, which will be one of the world’s largest biogas plants, was initiated by a group of local farmers together with local energy supply companies.
The biogas plant will utilise a wide variety of biomass resources. Manure from pigs, cattle, and mink will constitute the majority of the biomass treated in the plant, whilst waste products from dairies and abattoirs, sewage sludge, energy crops, and industrial waste also will be utilised. A total of approximately 600,000 tonnes of biomass will be handled annually. The plant is planned to produce approximately 20 million m3 biogas annually.

Greater Gabbard Offshore Windfarm
As part of the UK Government's bid to meet EU 2020 renewable energy targets, our energy team is working with Ramboll Denmark to achieve the construction of what will be the world's largest offshore windfarm when it is completed in 2010.

Solar energy project in Lillestrøm
Ramboll Energy has been commissioned with a solar energy project for Akershus Energi in Lillestrøm, Norway. A solar heating plant will be built in conjunction with Akershus Energy Park, which Ramboll also helped the client to construct. The plant will be the largest solar heating plant in Norway. Akershus Energy Park in Lillestrøm is one of Europe’s most modern and innovative district heating stations, operating on woodchips and biogas. With the construction of the solar heating plant, yet another renewable energy source will be introduced.

Procurement of new waste-to-energy unit in Roskilde, Denmark
Denmark’s existing waste-to-energy facilities have been optimised and existing capacity replaced, but no new thermal treatment capacity has been established since 2002.
KARA/NOVEREN is the first plant to receive the authorities’ approval since 2002 and is now establishing a new €175M waste-to-energy unit capable of meeting the capacity demands for thermal treatment of waste generated in its owner municipalities. Ramboll is responsible for the procurement of mechanical and electrical equipment for the new unit which is scheduled for commercial operation in 2013.

Avedøre Power Station - one of the world's most efficient multi-fuel power plants
Located on the coast just south of Copenhagen, Unit 2 of Avedøre Power Station uses natural gas, oil, straw, and wood pellets for simultaneous generation of heat and electricity. The plant is one of the world's most efficient plants as it exploits up to 94 percent of the energy in the fuels and has an electrical efficiency of 49 percent.
